Back 4 Blood Review

King Gaming Review

The Left 4 Dead series has always been about four players being thrown into a zombie apocalypse, facing off against hordes of undead creatures and trying to get from point A to B without dying. In its earliest iteration, this was accomplished by taking turns playing as one of four playable characters while the others were controlled by AI. Since then, it's evolved into an entire game series with multiple games under its belt -- but how does Back 4 Blood stack up? Is it worth your time and money? Let's take a look:

If you’re going to make a game that follows a successful formula, it has to be done right. Left 4 Dead was such an amazing cooperative shooter that it spawned countless copycats and even more imitators. Back 4 Blood is one of those imitators, but because it follows the Left 4 Dead formula so closely with only minor tweaks here and there, it can’t really be considered its own thing.

This isn't necessarily bad thing though if you enjoy being scared by zombies while shooting them in the face! If this sounds like something you'd enjoy then definitely check out Back 4 Blood on PlayStation 4 (or PC). It's a fun experience for anyone who wants to play co-op with friends or family members and take down hordes of zombies together--just don't expect anything new from this game compared to other zombie titles out there because almost everything about Back 4 Blood feels familiar

Anyone who has played Left 4 Dead over the past twelve years will know to expect exactly what they get with Back 4 Blood. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the formula works and it’s more refined than ever, but it's definitely going to feel very familiar.

Back 4 Blood is an iterative game, which is to say that it feels like an update of the original rather than a sequel or something new. The core four-player co-op experience against AI-controlled zombies remains unchanged here but there are some fresh ideas added in and some older ones refined. Left 4 Dead has been around for almost 12 years now, and after such a long period of time I felt that it was less ambitious than Left 4 Dead 2 while still being just as fun to play.

For those who are unfamiliar with the series, you and three friends will be tasked with surviving wave after wave of undead enemies by scavenging for weapons, supplies and other items scattered around each map. Once you've gathered enough resources (which takes only seconds), you can advance through the map until you reach your objective: blowing up an area full of zombies with dynamite or using a bomb to destroy them all at once. While this may sound like Left 4 Dead 2 from 2009; however it's not quite so simple as just shooting at everything that moves.

Back 4 Blood is a good game, but it’s also one that was very easy to predict because it follows the Left 4 Dead formula so closely. It’s less ambitious than Left 4 Dead 2, which introduced a lot of new elements and variations on gameplay for better or worse -- mostly better. Instead, Back 4 Blood sticks with mostly tried-and-true mechanics and does it well.

In other words: if you liked Left 4 Dead then you'll like this game too. For me personally I found myself wishing there was more being done with this world outside of shooting zombies in the face over and over again but that's just me having been spoiled by L4D2 after playing it so much all those years ago (which is why I gave this section such a long title).

Conclusion

Left 4 Dead might have been old when it first came out, but it's still one of the best co-op shooters around. Back 4 Blood is a natural evolution for the series, and it does a good job at adding new features while maintaining what made Left 4 Dead great in the first place. Even if you're not interested in playing this game yourself, it's worth checking out just because of how much fun its gameplay is! Get your copy at King Gaming
